Heat Wave Grips Odisha, Over 46 Degree Celsius At Four Places

An intense heat wave swept in many parts of Odisha with the maximum temperature recorded at 46 degree Celsius or more at four places in the State on Wednesday.

Bhubaneswar, May 29: An intense heat wave swept in many parts of Odisha with the maximum temperature recorded at 46 degree Celsius or more at four places in the State on Wednesday.

According to the latest bulletin of IMD’s Bhubaneswar centre, Balangir recorded a maximum temperature of 46.3 degree Celsius and became the hottest place in the State for the day.

Sonepur became the second hottest place with a day temperature of 46.2 degrees Celsius,  followed by Titagarh and Jharsuguda with 46 degree Celsius each.

Similarly, Sambalpur recorded a day temperature of 45.5 degree Celsius, Boudh at 45.3 degree Celsius and Dharamkud at 45.1 degree Celsius.

The mercury in Bhubaneswar was 39.8 degree Celsius.  

The day temperature is likely to rise by 3-5 degree Celsius during the next two days, the Met Centre predicted.

Heat wave to severe heat wave condition is very likely to prevail in the districts of Boudh, Sonepur, Kandhamal, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Balangir till MAy 31, it added.
