Includes 1 urban PHC and 16 Sub Health Centres. Certification reflects improved healthcare quality and infrastructure.

Bhubaneswar, Aug 5: In a significant boost to Odisha’s public healthcare infrastructure, 17 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs across the state have received certification under the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS), awarded by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

Announcing the achievement, Odisha Helath Minister Mukesh Mahaling, tweeted that the recognition reflects the strengthening of the state’s health foundation under the “double engine government” model. Of the 17 certified facilities, one is an urban Primary Health Centre (PHC), while the remaining 16 are Sub Health Centres (SHCs), all upgraded under the Ayushman Bharat initiative.

NQAS is a rigorous framework designed to assess and ensure the quality of healthcare services in public health facilities. It evaluates parameters such as patient safety, infection control, service delivery, and community engagement. Facilities that meet these standards are considered capable of delivering comprehensive, patient-centric care.

The Ayushman Arogya Mandir model aims to provide holistic healthcare services, including preventive, promotive, curative, rehabilitative, and palliative care. These centres are envisioned as the backbone of India’s primary healthcare system, offering free essential drugs, diagnostics, and wellness services.

Odisha’s achievement in securing NQAS certification for 17 centres underscores its commitment to quality healthcare delivery and its alignment with national health goals. It also reflects the successful implementation of Ayushman Bharat’s vision at the grassroots level.
