Viksit Odisha / HCLTech To Invest Rs 15,000cr In Odisha To Set Up Global Delivery Hub, AI Data Centre

Bhubaneswar, Jul 24: The Odisha government on Friday signed
two landmark memorandam of understanding (MoUs) with IT major HCLTech, paving
the way for investments exceeding Rs 15,000 crore in the state’s technology
sector. The agreements include the establishment of HCLTech’s first AI Data
Centre in India and a Global Delivery Centre in Bhubaneswar, officials said.

According to official sources, the AI Data Centre will be set up at the upcoming Sovereign AI Park in partnership with Sarvam AI, with a planned capital outlay of Rs 14,257 crore. The facility will provide secure, scalable and inclusive digital infrastructure for government agencies, research institutions, startups and enterprises. Officials said the project marks HCLTech’s entry into Odisha and its maiden investment in an AI Data Centre in the country.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who attended the MoU signing ceremony, described the investment as a major boost for Odisha’s technology and innovation ecosystem. He said the agreements were the outcome of the state’s focused outreach during the Utkarsh Odisha and Make in Odisha conclaves, adding that Odisha was positioning itself as a leading hub for AI and digital engineering.

✨HCLTech will also establish a Global Delivery Centre in
Bhubaneswar in two phases, with an investment of over Rs 730 crore. The centre
is expected to generate around 6,000 high-skilled direct jobs and several
indirect employment opportunities. It will serve as a hub for digital
transformation services, strengthening Odisha’s appeal as a destination for
global capability centres, digital exports and AI-enabled services.

HCLTech Chairperson Roshni Nadar Malhotra said the company was committed to supporting India’s sovereign AI ecosystem in line with the Digital India and Atmanirbhar Bharat vision. “We are pleased to begin this initiative in partnership with the Odisha government and Sarvam AI,” she said.
Electronics and IT Minister Mukesh Mahaling, Additional Chief Secretary Vishal Kumar Dev, senior representatives of HCLTech and Sarvam AI, and state officials were present at the ceremony.
