Anugl, Apr 6: Yet another hardcore criminal was injured in police encounter in Angul late on Saturday night.

The criminal, Khirod Naik, has been admitted to a hospital.

According to the information, a patrolling team intercepted Khirod at Hanuman Batika under the Town Police Station limits and asked him to surrender. But Khirod opened fire at the team and attempted to run away. Police soon retaliated by firing at him below his waist. As a result, Khorod received bullet injuries in his right leg.

Following the encounter, he was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), Angul.

Police said there are more than 50 criminal cases pending against Khirod at different police stations in Angul, Dhenkanal and Deogarh districts.
