Sundergarh, Jul 12: A freight train carrying dolomite derailed near the Daily Market area in Sundergarh district on Saturday, causing significant disruption.

According to initial reports, the goods train was heading towards Durgapur from BSL company when it derailed near Daily Market area. Following the incident, more than 10 wagons jumped off the tracks, prompting an immediate response from railway and police authorities.

On being informed, railway officials reached the spot and carried a restoration effort.

While no casualties have been reported so far, the incident has raised concerns about track safety and operational oversight in the region. Meanwhile, officials have launched a probe to determine the cause of the derailment.

This marks the second major derailment in Sundargarh in recent months, following a similar incident near Bimalagarh station in May.
