Bhubaneswar, Dec 25: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and several other BJP leaders Wednesday observed the Good Governance Day and the 100th birth anniversary of former India Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

The celebration programme took place at the state headquarter of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bhubaneswar. The former India PM Vajpayee's birth anniversary has been observed as the Good Governance Day.

Among other party leaders, who attended the programme, were state party president Manmohan Samal, state party in-charge Vijaypal Singh Tomar and several ministers as well as BJP leaders.

Good Governance Day was established in 2014 to honour Vajpayee by fostering awareness among the Indian people of accountability in government.

In keeping with this principle, the Government of India has decreed Good Governance Day to be a working day for the government.

On this occasion, various persons will be honoured with 9th Atal Samman.
