Bhubaneswar, Sep 28: The controversial Mamita Meher murder case has resurfaced in public discourse after the family of the prime accused, Gobind Sahu, met Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
Sahu’s wife and daughter, accompanied by former Bhawanipatna MLA and ex-Leader of Opposition Pradeepta Kumar Naik, urged the CM to provide security and recommend a CBI investigation into the case.
During the meeting, Gobind Sahu’s family alleged threats from former Home Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra and his associates. They claimed their lives and property were under constant threat and demanded immediate protection.
Lipika Sahu, Gobind’s daughter, stated, “The person who killed Mamita Meher also killed my father. He was murdered inside jail. We are terrified and fear for our safety.”

Lipika further alleged that their family assets had been seized and they were being harassed. She emphasized that her father’s death was not natural but part of a larger conspiracy linked to Mamita’s murder. The family believes that Gobind Sahu was silenced to protect powerful individuals.
CM Majhi reportedly assured the family of security and promised to consider recommending a CBI inquiry. Naik confirmed that the CM had responded positively and expressed faith in the government’s commitment to justice.
The Mamita Meher case, which shook Odisha in 2021, involved the murder of a young teacher and the suspicious death of the main accused, Gobind Sahu, inside jail. Despite repeated pleas from Mamita’s family for justice, key figures like Dibya Shankar Mishra were never formally interrogated or included in the investigation scope.
With Gobind Sahu’s family now echoing similar demands, the
case has regained momentum. Their appeal to the Chief Minister has reignited
public interest and raised fresh questions about the integrity of the original
investigation.
