Gift Card Message Leads to Mobile Hacking, Rs 20K Stolen

Bhadrak, Jan 15 :   A young man in Baudpur, Bhadrak, was the victim of a cyber scam after clicking on a message claiming to offer a gift card. The man, identified as Srikant Kumar Swain, said that his mobile phone was hacked after he clicked on the message. The hacker then stole Rs. 20,000 from his bank account.

Srikant told the media that when he clicked on the link in the message, his mobile phone stopped working. He then received a message from his bank saying that Rs. 20,000 had been deducted from his account.

Srikant said that he immediately contacted his bank and reported the fraud. The bank closed his account, but the money had already been transferred to the hacker's account. Srikant has also filed a complaint with the cybercrime police.
