Bhubaneswar, Jan 4: Ahead of the 2024 general elections, political parties in Odisha, particularly BJD and Congress, seem to have adopted a 'Ghar Wapsi' (Back to Party) policy for leaders who were once ousted or some others who quit the party for some reasons. 

The ruling BJD revoked the dismissal order issued on former Minister and seven-time MLA Dr Damodar Rout recently. Rout was ousted for anti-party activities in 2018. 

It is learned that former MLA Hema Gomang, wife of former Chief Minister Giridhar Gamang, will return to the party soon. She would rejoin the Congress at the party's State head office on January 7. The All India Congress Committee has already given a green signal and talks regarding her rejoining have already been made with PCC president, Hema Gamang told reporters. 

Sources said former Chief Minister Giridhar Gamang and his son Sisir Gamang would rejoin the party soon. 

Former Union Minister Srikant Jena is also likely to return to the party. 

Meanwhile, Senior MLA and Congress Discipline Committee chairman Santosh Singh Saluja told reporters that the suspension order would be lifted from senior leaders, MLA Mohammad Moquim and former MLA Chiranjeev Biswal, soon.  

Party sources said the newly appointed Congress Odisha-in-charge Ajoy Kumar would arrive here on January 6 on a two-day Odisha visit. The party would organise important meetings on January 6 and 7 to discuss important issues concerning the party organisation and pre-poll strategies.
