Bhubaneswar, July 1: The Odisha government has placed Binjesh Ranjan Nayak, Assistant Collector of Ganjam, under suspension following serious allegations of corruption during his previous tenure as Sub-Registrar of Jatni.
The suspension order, issued by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, cites gross misconduct and procedural violations, prompting a departmental inquiry.
The alleged irregularities include off-site property registrations, some of which were reportedly carried out in districts beyond Khurda, where Jatni is located.
According to reports, Nayak is accused of conducting 322 unauthorised home registration visits between March 2023 and May 2025, including several outside his jurisdiction—without requisite departmental approval.
As investigations continue, the government aims to reinforce transparency in land dealings and prevent similar incidents in the future.
