Fun Activity Turns Tragic In Odisha: Youth Missing After Being Swept Away At Waterfall

Keonjhar, Aug 30: A tragic incident unfolded near Garjan Khol Waterfall, located close to Nagira village under Pallahara police limits, when three youths from Keonjhar district visited the scenic spot for a day trip.
According to reports, the victim, Lipun Behera from Balrei village under Bansapal police station, along with two of his friends- Shubham and Giridhari, had gone to Garjan Khol Waterfall on Friday. They were taking bath in the waterfall when one of them swept away by a sudden surge in the water current.
After being unable to trace Lipun, his friends contacted the emergency service, who then rushed to the scene and launched a rescue operation.
Eyewitnesses say the group was bathing in the upper section of the waterfall when Lipun lost his footing and was pulled into the deeper pool below by the strong current. Despite immediate efforts by his friends and locals, he could not be located.
Upon receiving the alert, Bansapal Fire Brigade rushed to the scene and, with assistance from local residents, launched a search operation. However, due to the depth and force of the water, the victim remained untraceable.
