Bhubaneswar, July 18: The Indian Meteorological Department's Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar has issued an alert regarding the possible formation of a low-pressure area over the northern Bay of Bengal around July 24.

This developing system is expected to intensify rainfall activity across parts of Odisha and neighboring states, potentially triggering widespread showers and thunderstorms, said the IMD.

The weather agency further stated if the system strengthens as predicted, it could lead to moderate to heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and localized flooding in low-lying areas.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and may issue further advisories as the system evolves.

Residents, especially in coastal and riverine zones, are urged to stay updated and take necessary precautions.
