Mayurbhanj, Nov 8: A tragic incident has shaken Rudanga village under Karanjia police limits in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, where a four-year-old boy lost his life following a severe honeybee attack.
The victim, Risan Nayak, son of Raja Nayak, had gone to graze cattle near a tree close to the village school, accompanied by a local woman. According to reports, someone had disturbed a honeybee hive on the tree, triggering a swarm. As the bees attacked, the woman fled the scene in panic, leaving the child behind.

✨The bees launched a fierce assault on Risan, stinging him multiple times. Family members rushed him to Karanjia Hospital, but due to the critical nature of his condition, doctors referred him to the district head quarter hospital, Keonjhar. Despite intensive treatment, the child succumbed to his injuries.
The incident has cast a pall of grief over Rudanga village. Locals mourned the untimely death and expressed concern over the presence of beehives near public areas frequented by children and livestock. Many are urging authorities to take preventive measures and raise awareness to avoid such tragedies in the future.
