Cuttack, Apr 27: The Almighty protected four members of a Cuttack family from being gunned down by terrorists at Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22.
The family from Millennium City's Deula Sahi went to Pahalgam to celebrate the son's marriage anniversary. Ranjit Kumar Bhola, his wife, his son Sandeep Bhola and his daughter-in-law were at the Pahalgam meadow when terrorists rushed in and killed male members of families present there.
"Four terrorists came to the meadow. They first killed the security guard at the gate. Three stayed back at the gate and opened fire at the males. That fourth one came near to us and stood just 10 feet from us, I saw he killed three males within a few minutes. He asked family members to read 'Kalama'. Those who read Kalama were spared, and those who could not read Kalama were shot either at the forehead or at the chest. They were killed on the spot," said Ranjit Bhola.
He said some tourists managed to run through the gate as they heard gunshot sounds. "I was sleeping under a rag, and my son was sitting with a bag on his back. Had the tourist turned and seen us, he would have killed us. Thank god, we were saved," said Ranjit Bhola.
