Cuttack, May 10: Manglabag Police have arrested four persons for allegedly luring patients and their relatives from the non-trauma casualty ward of SCB Medical and College in Cuttack to private hospitals.
The accused persons were identified as Debasish Mohanty, Krishna Bahadur, Susanta Barik, and Ram Nayak.
Addressing a presser, ACP Girija Shankar Chakrabarty provided details of the arrested persons and stated that the accused persons used to impersonate themselves as hospital staff to mislead patients.
Investigations revealed that the accused persons were redirecting patients to specific private hospitals and nursing homes, which have now been brought under scrutiny.
Reportedly, two separate cases have been registered against the accused persons in connection with the incident.
Police have also urged citizens to report any suspicious activities related to patient referrals.
