Former IRS Officer Sambit Tripathy Joins BJP In Odisha

Former IRS officer, Sambit Tripathy joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the State BJP headquarters in Bhubaneswar, Odisha today.
Bhubaneswar, Nov 8: Former Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax) officer Sambit Tripathy and several other leaders from different political parties joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the State BJP headquarters here in Odisha on Wednesday.
Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal and other senior party leaders, who were present on the occasion, welcomed the new members.
Speaking on the occasion, Sambit Tripathy, a 1998-batch IRS officer, said, "Inspired by the ideals and policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, I joined the BJP today. The party organization in Badamba area of Cuttack district is very strong. People are in favor of the BJP at the grassroots level, in every village and booth level. BJP is a national party and it has some discipline. If the party decides that I am an eligible candidate, I will definitely contest in the 2024 general elections".

Born at Krishnachandrapur village of Goppur Panchayat under Badamba block in Odisha's Cuttack district in 1975, Sambit Tripathy started his school education at DM School in Bhubaneswar.

✨In his student days, Sambit Tripathy was proficient in various fields including studies, sports and other cultural activities. He made his mark through excellent performance in various competitions in quiz and debate at school and college level.
Achievements as an officer:
- Sambit Tripathy became an IRS officer in 1988 when he was just 22 years old. He has vast experience in policy making while working in four different key Ministries of the Central Government.
- Sambit Tripathy successfully adopted a strategy to curb tax evasion by big corporate houses and contractors on a large scale in Rourkela, Sambalpur, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and other places in Odisha,
Tenure in various Ministries
- Sambit Tripathy was a member of the team that prepared the Law Budget in 2007 and 2008. He also worked in the team that drafted the Direct Tax Code to facilitate business and taxation.
- In the Ministry of Shipping, Sambit Tripathy represented the two largest ports of the country i.e. Paradip and Kandla on behalf of the government. He visited Iran and discussed about Chabahar port for the country.
- Sambit Tripathy was appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to then Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan from 2014 to 2019 .
- After more than 22 years of government service, Sambit Tripathy took voluntary retirement (VRS) to do social service while serving as Income-Tax Commissioner.

Currently, Sambit Tripathy is working towards the successful implementation of the Modi government's plan and policies for the farmers by training them in new methods of farming in order to increase their income in the field of agriculture.
