Nayagarh, May 31: Tension gripped Nayagarh district as a half-burnt body of forest officer was recovered from inside his house. The deceased forest officer has been identified as Shishir Sahu.
According to reports, the tragic incident took place in Baramasi Danda, where Sahu resided with his wife Namita and son.
The fire reportedly broke out late at night, drawing immediate attention from neighbors when Namita ran outside, crying for help. Immediately, locals tried to contain the flames until firefighters arrived and extinguished the blaze.
Later, Sahu’s charred body was found lying on the bed. While his wife had sustained minor injuries, their son remained unharmed. However, the fire damaged several household items, including a scooter.
Following the incident, police reached the spot and initiated a probe into the incident.
Reportedly, authorities are probing whether Sahu deliberately set himself on fire or if foul play was involved.
