Dhenkanal, May 24: A forest guard was tragically killed after being shot by poachers in the Hindol Range of Dhenkanal district, Odisha.

The deceased has been identified as Prahlad Pradhan (37).

According to reports, the incident occurred when Pradhan along with 12 other colleagues was on a patrolling duty in the Hindol forest region.

Reports indicate that the poachers opened fire, and a bullet struck Pradhan in the stomach. He was immediately rushed to Angul District Headquarters Hospital in critical condition, where doctors later declared him brought dead.

Following the incident, the forest officials acted swiftly, managing to apprehend four poachers at the scene. However, some suspects managed to flee.

Authorities have seized firearms from the poachers and are conducting further interrogation to gather more details about the incident.
