Bhubaneswar, Sep 6: In a bid to improve traffic management, the Commissionerate Police has announced the revival of traffic updates through FM radio channels across Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
The initiative, which had been discontinued earlier, is now being relaunched to ensure real-time traffic information reaches commuters efficiently.
Police Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh confirmed that discussions have been held with all major FM stations, and they have agreed to collaborate with the traffic police.
“FM channels will work closely with our traffic units to deliver timely updates. This system was operational earlier but was discontinued. We are now restarting it to strengthen traffic regulation,” Singh said.

The FM-based traffic alert system will provide live updates on congestion zones, diversions, accident-prone areas, and alternate routes. The goal is to reduce travel time, prevent bottlenecks, and enhance road safety for daily commuters.
