Bhadrak, Aug 25: A flood alert has been issued in Bhadrak district as the Baitarani River continues to swell, crossing the danger mark at Akhuapada early Monday morning. According to official reports, the river was flowing at 18.86 meters at 6 AM, surpassing the danger level of 18.33 meters and triggering concerns across low-lying regions.
Floodwaters have inundated farmlands and residential areas in Kantighai (Bhandaripokhari block), as well as Malli Mahara and Gaurangpur villages under Dhamnagar block. In response to the worsening situation, the District Collector has ordered the closure of all Anganwadi centers in Hasanabad and Arjunpur panchayats on August 25 and 26.
