Five From West Bengal Arrested In Odisha Over 'Love Jihad' & Abduction Attempt

Keonjar, July 31: In a disturbing incident from Odisha’s Keonjhar district, five individuals from West Bengal have been arrested on Thursday following serious allegations of “Love Jihad” and attempted abduction of a young Hindu woman.
The accused have been identified as Farid, Sahidul, Dildar, Jamal Sheikh, and Safikul Sheikh. All of them hail from Murshidabad district in West Bengal, while key accused Farid has been working as a contractor in Joda region in Keonjhar.
According to the complaint filed at Joda police station, the woman claimed that Farid allegedly lured the woman into a romantic relationship few weeks ago and forced her into physical intimacy. Later the accused pressured her to convert her religion for marriage. When she refused, Farid along with his four accomplices allegedly attempted to abduct her yesterday.

✨The woman’s resistance and screaming during the abduction attempt drew the attention of locals, who intervened, causing the accused to flee from the scene, she stated.
However, Joda Police acted swiftly on the victim’s complaint and arrested all five accused.
The case has reignited public debate around the controversial term “Love Jihad,” often used to describe alleged attempts by individuals to lure women into relationships for religious conversion.
