Ganjam, Aug 28: A tragic incident unfolded off the coast of Podampeta in Ganjam district when a fishing boat carrying seven fishermen capsized during fishing.
According to reports, a group of seven persons, all residents of Sananolia Nuagaon under Chhatrapur block, had ventured into the sea early Thursday morning. The boat overturned due to rough sea conditions.
Following this, the administration launched a rescue operation.
While six of the fishermen were rescued successfully, one individual, identified as A Kaleya, however, went missing.
Reportedly, marine rescue teams is coordinating with the Coast Guard to intensify the search for the missing fisherman.
Authorities have urged fishermen to exercise caution and monitor weather advisories before venturing into the sea, especially during the monsoon season.
