Bhubaneswar, Jul 27: Amid rising concerns over a fresh outbreak of bird flu in Khordha district, the prices of seafood has seen a significant rise in the Smart City.

The disease, which originated in Delang, has now reached areas like Balianta, Balipatna, and Jankia, sparking widespread alarm.

Health experts are advising citizens to avoid poultry consumption, and in response, shoppers are turning away from chicken stalls and flocking to fish markets.

Vendors at Unit-4 fish market reported booming sales on Sunday. 

Fish vendors at Unit-4 market are reporting record footfall, while chicken stalls remain nearly deserted despite price drops to Rs 170–180 per kg. The panic has not only impacted consumer habits but also left poultry farmers and traders worried about mounting losses.

On the other hand, the Animal Husbandry Department has initiated preventive steps, while health officials continue to monitor the situation closely. Authorities have also urged residents to stay alert and follow safety guidelines until the threat subsides.
