First Session Of 17th Odisha Assembly Begins Tomorrow

Bhubaneswar, July 21: The first session of the newly constituted 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly (OLA) will begin tomorrow. The session is set to be very stormy because of the Opposition BJD and Congress parties deciding to take on the Mohan Majhi Government over various issues.
Ahead of the session, an all-party meeting was held under the chairmanship of Speaker Surama Padhi today. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and two deputy Chief Ministers- K V Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, Opposition Chief Whip Pramila Mallik, Ministers- Mukesh Mahalinga and Prithviraj Harichandar were present.
Though invited by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik didn't attend the crucial meeting.
No leaders from the Congress party joined the meeting too.

✨Reacting to the absence of any Congress leader, senior party MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati said his party was yet to choose a Congress Legislature Party Leader. "Congress is a big party. But nobody joined the meeting as the AICC has not decided yet," said Bahinipati.
Speaker Padhi sought cooperation from all parties for the smooth functioning of the House.
According to the schedule, the session will begin with Governor Raghubar Das addressing the House. The election to the Deputy Speaker Post will be held on July 24. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will present the annual State Budget in the House on July 25.
