Bhadrak, Mar 4: A massive fire broke out at RMC market in Bhadrak district today.
According to reports, the fire originated from one shop and rapidly engulfed the nearby shops.
On noticing a plume of smoke emanating from the shop, locals alerted the Fire and Emergency Service department.
Based on the information, the fire personnel rushed to the spot and doused the flames by using a water pump. After hours of effort, the fire was brought under control.
However, a staff of the fire department, identified as Rashmi Ranjan Swain, has sustained injuries in the incident. Reportedly, he has been rushed to district headquarters hospital in Bhadrak and is under treatment.
While the exact reason is yet to be asceratied, an electrical short circuit is suspected behind the incident.

In a similar incident, Kaleswara High School under Kabisuryanagar police station in Ganjam district was set on fire by some unidentified miscreants on Sunday night. The NCC room of the school was completely destroyed following the incident.
