Nayagarh, Sep 1: A violent clash erupted during a Ganesh idol immersion procession in Karadapalli village under Bhapur block of Nayagarh district, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to at least ten others.

The incident occurred late Sunday night when two groups reportedly got into a heated argument over stopping DJ music during the immersion. The disagreement quickly escalated into physical violence, disrupting the festive atmosphere.

According to locals, the procession was moving through the village with loud DJ music when the dispute began. Attempts to halt the music led to a confrontation between the groups, culminating in a fight.

In the ensuing clash, Harihar Swain of Karadapalli village lost his life. The injured were rushed to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Tensions remain high in the village following the incident.

Fategarh police arrived at the scene and have brought the situation under control. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause and identify those involved.
