Balasore, Nov 5: A female infant was rescued by some villagers in Nilagiri NAC early in the morning. The newly born was abandoned beside a mosque near Swarnachuda mountain. 

The villagers heard the child crying and rescued her. They informed the police and admitted her in a health centre in Nilagiri. 

However, the infant's health condition was not stable so she was shifted to Balasore medical.

After the matter got disclosed, the women in the village suspected on a pregnant lady who was staying in a rented house nearby. On enquiring, the couple accepted of having abandoned  the new born. They apologised for having abandoned her. 

The father of the infant belonged to Kalakad area under Berhampur Police Station in Balasore district.
