Paralakhemundi, May 15: In a heartbreaking incident, a father allegedly poisoned his two children before consuming poison himself.

The deceased were identified as Subhashish, his son Bijayanand (8), and daughter Priyadarshini (11).

According to reports, Subhashish allegedly gave her kids a poisonous substance to drink, which led to the sudden deterioration of their health. He also consumed the same with the intent to commit suicide.

Soon after the incident, the three were rushed to the district hospital in Paralakhemundi in critical condition. Unfortunately, Bijayanand succumbed to the poisoning on arrival while Subhashish and his daughter Priyadarshini were transferred to Berhampur for advanced treatment. However, despite efforts, both succumbed while undergoing treatment.

Authorities reveal that just weeks prior, on March 21, Subhashish’s wife, Shweta, had passed away under mysterious circumstances.

The exact motive behind the poisoning remains unclear, and the police have initiated an in-depth inquiry.
