Bhubaneswar, Feb 26: BJP State president Manmohan Samal on Monday said paddy would procured at Rs 3,100 per quintal from farmers if his party is voted to power in Odisha.
Gracing a meeting of the BJP Krushak Morcha, Samal said electricity will be supplied free of cost to farmers for farming purposes. All efforts will be made to help farmers get profit from farming and provisions will be made to provide 100 percent compensation for crop losses caused by natural disasters.
The BJP State chief expressed unhappiness that farmers of Odisha are being deprived of benefits from the farmers' welfare programme of the Union Government due to irregularities and scams committed by the State Government.
Massive corruption in farm equipment purchases, mismanagement at Mandis, deduction of five to 10 kg per quintal of paddy, lack of irrigation facilities, lack of cold storage and irregularities in farm loan disbursement have hit farmers in Odisha. BJP workers will move door to door and take up these issues with them, said BJP Krushak Morcha president Maheswar Sahoo.
