Bhubaneswar, Jun 18: In a major boost for Odisha's agricultural sector, local mango farmers have gained new recognition as their produce reaches international markets.
For the first time, mangoes from Nuapada district have been exported to Germany, bringing joy to the farming community.
A total of 600 quintals of mangoes cultivated by 50 farmers from Khariar and Boden blocks are set for export.
The initiative began with 11 quintals of mangoes from Durkamunda village being sent to Germany.
Nuapada District Collector Madhusudan Dash flagged off the first shipment, marking a significant milestone in the region's agricultural trade.
The government’s active role in facilitating these exports has brought enthusiasm among local mango farmers. They expressed their gratitude for the improved marketing and distribution channels, which have helped their produce reach international buyers.
The export process involves careful packaging in crates, followed by transportation via trucks to Kolkata. From there, the mangoes are flown to Germany, ensuring quality and freshness upon arrival.
With growing global demand, the farmers of Nuapada are optimistic about future opportunities and the increasing reach of their produce beyond national borders.
