Bhubaneswar, Aug 17: In a landmark move aimed at easing the burden on farmers across Odisha, a major simplification has been announced in the registration process for paddy procurement under the upcoming Kharif Marketing Season 2025–26.
Announcing the reform, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra said the farmers across Odisha will no longer be required to submit legal heir certificates or other ancestral documents to register. They can now complete the process by submitting a simple self-declaration form.
The move aims to eliminate bureaucratic hurdles and ensure that eligible farmers are not deprived of the benefits of the Minimum Support Price (MSP), said the Minister.
“This decision will make registration more accessible and farmer-friendly,” he stated.
The Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department issued an official notification on August 16, directing all district Collectors to implement the new system.
The registration deadline has also been extended to August 25, giving farmers additional time to enroll through their nearest Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS), LAMPS, Women Self-Help Groups, and Pani Panchayats.
As of today, 13,34,028 farmers have registered for the current season, compared to 13,79,066 during the same period last year.
