Banki, May 17: Tragic incident unfolded in Kusapangi village in Cuttack's Banki, where a farmer lost his life after coming in contact with a live electric wire.

According to the reports, the incident occurred when the victim, who was heading to his paddy field accidentally came in contact with a live electric wire, which used as a fence to prevent crop damage from stray animals.

Following the death of the farmer, hundreds of villagers staged a protest at Kusapangi Chhak on the Banki-Cuttack main road, demanding immediate arrest of the person responsible and compensation for the deceased’s family.

The protest led to severe traffic disruptions, with vehicles stranded on both sides of the road.

Taking note of the report, Banki police arrived at the scene, attempting to pacify the protesters and restore order. Tensions remained high as discussions continued between authorities and villagers regarding justice and compensation.
