Berhampur, Apr 4: The Famous Thakurani Yatra of Maa Budhi Thakurani kicked off in Berhampur city today.

According to the information, Maa Budhi Thakurani Yatra is held once every two years.

The presiding deity of the city visits Her parental house at Deshi Behera Sahi, two km from Her temple.

As per tradition, the representative idol of the Goddess was taken in a grand procession amid beating of drums, ghants and cymbals to Her parents' house late on Thursday night.

The festival will be held for over three weeks, till April 28.

The Goddess is seated in a temporary platform in front of Her parents' house. Various cultural programmes, including folk dances of Ganjam district, are showcased to mark the biennial Thukurani Yatra in a grand way. The city wears a colourful look throughout the festival period.
