Rourkela, Oct 7: Uditnagar Police arrested a youth in Odisha’s Rourkela for allegedly impersonating as an NSG commando and committing fraud across several luxury hotels and shopping malls, police said on Tuesday.
The accused has been identified as P. Sudhir, hailing from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
According to the police sources, Sudhir had been moving across the Rourkela-Tata-Ranchi region for the past two months, staying in upscale hotels and making fake transactions to purchase branded goods.
Luxury Lifestyle Built on Deceit
Sudhir reportedly introduced himself as a member of the elite NSG commando unit to gain trust and access to premium services. He stayed at various high-end hotels, including the Fair Inn in Rourkela, and traveled in first-class accommodations. His lavish lifestyle included shopping for branded items from malls using fraudulent payment methods.

Caught in the Act
The deception came to an end when hotel staff at Fair Inn grew suspicious of his activities and alerted the police. Upon investigation, Uditnagar Police discovered Sudhir’s fake identity and a trail of fraudulent transactions. He was immediately taken into custody and produced in court.
Police Crack Down on Impersonation and Fraud
Officials stated that Sudhir had been exploiting his fake identity to live luxuriously while defrauding businesses. His arrest highlights the need for heightened vigilance among service providers and stricter verification protocols. The case is now under legal proceedings, and further investigations are underway to uncover the full extent of his activities.
