Baripada, Jan 1: The nation welcomed the New Year 2026 with festive fervour, bidding farewell to 2025 and embracing fresh hopes and aspirations. Across the country, celebrations marked the arrival of the new year, with temples witnessing heavy footfall as devotees sought blessings for peace, prosperity, and progress.

At Baripada, known as the second Shrikshetra, large crowds gathered at the revered Shri Shri Haribaladev Ji (Jagannath) temple and the shrine of the city’s presiding deity Maa Ambika. From early morning, devotees offered lamps and floral tributes, praying for the well-being of their families in the year ahead.

The atmosphere in the temple town was charged with devotion and joy, as people performed rituals and extended wishes for happiness and harmony. Authorities reported smooth arrangements despite the surge in visitors, ensuring that the New Year celebrations unfolded in a spirit of faith and festivity.
