Nuapada, Jul 9: In a decisive crackdown on illegal liquor operations, the Khariar Excise Department conducted multiple raids across the region, resulting in the arrest of six individuals involved in the illicit trade of country-made and foreign liquor.
The operation was carried out under the leadership of Inspector Somnath Bag, with support from Excise Sub-Inspector Alekh Patel, ASI Amarnath Bishoi, and constables Baijayanti Sabar and Prabhati Nayak.
The raids targeted various locations in Khariar block of Nuapada district, where illegal liquor was being stored and distributed. Authorities seized a significant quantity of contraband liquor along with two motorcycles used for transportation. Among the arrested, five are residents of Khariar while one hails from the Komna region.

✨All six accused were produced in court following their arrest. The Excise Department has intensified its vigilance in the area, aiming to curb the growing menace of unauthorized liquor trade that poses health risks and undermines lawful commerce.
Inspector Bag stated that the department is committed to maintaining law and order and will continue its efforts to dismantle such networks. This operation marks a strong message from the Excise Department that illegal liquor activities will not be tolerated, and offenders will face strict legal consequences.
