Bhubaneswar, Feb 17: Odisha Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister, Krushna Chandra Patra, has said that every block in the state will have at least one cold storage.
Speaking about the state government’s call for farmers’ welfare and benefits, Patra said that cold storages will help the farmers keep their produced crops afresh for long time. This will help them reduce the amount of loss – financial and production – they suffer.
“Cold storages will be built throughout the state. Every block will have at least one cold storage. With this, farmers will be able to keep the produced crops afresh for long time and they won’t have to experience financial stress,” said the Food Supplies Minister.
Closure of Mills, Illegal Activites In Mandis
Speaking about the millers and politicians, whose wrongdoings and corrupted activities affected the farmers both mentally as well as financially, Patra assured that the Odisha Govt will not tolerate these kinds of illegal activities against the farmers.
“Odisha Food Supplies Department has sealed as many as 24 mills so far. We will not tolerate such illegal activities against the farmers,” said the Minister.
Shedding lights on the Odisha Govt’s actions against such corruptions, Patra said that some politicians from the previous government were allegedly getting extra income from paddy mandi.
“These kinds of corruptions are over now. They used to take money on a monthly basis. So, it is natural for them, as well as corrupt millers and brokers to suffer. Action has been taken against some officials, who were involved in these illegal activities with brokers and millers,” stated the Food Supplies Minister.
“Mandi facilities will be rectified. Mandis will be set up at various places, which don’t have mandis, to help the farmers sell their produced crops,” he assured.
