Angul, June 8: In another incident of animal-man conflict, an elderly woman was reportedly trampled to death by a wild elephant at Amlabereni village under Kishorenagar block in Angul district early this morning. 

The deceased was identified as Asha Dehuri. 

According to the information, the elderly woman had gone to collect mangoes in a nearby jungle when she came across a pachyderm. While she tried to run away, the wild animal chased her and kicked her to the ground. As she fell down, the jumbo pressed her head under its feet. Asha bled profusely and died on the spot.  

Her death came to villagers' knowledge after about an hour. Some other villagers saw her body lying in a poll of blood in the jungle. They informed the forest officials about the fatal elephant attack and demanded adequate compensation for the poor family of the deceased woman. 

The incident caused a state of fear in the area.
