Balasore, May 28: An elephant was found dead after falling into a trench in Badapada area of Kaptipada range near Chemchata Beat of Kuldiha sanctuary bordering Balasore and Mayurbhanj.

On being informed, Kuldiha ranger and Kaptipada ranger rushed to the spot and recorvd the elephant's corpse. 

Questions have been raised on the patrolling of the forest department as to how the forest officials could not find out when the elephant was lying in the trench.

In yet another same incident, the carcass of a female elephant was recovered from Jodachua in Kuldihar last Friday as well.
