Bhubaneswar, May 19: Senior BJP leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Odisha today on a two-day campaign trail for the ongoing Lok Sabha and state assembly polls. 

Upon his arrival on Sunday evening, PM Modi will convene a meeting with state BJP leaders in Bhubaneswar and spend the night in the city.

On Monday, the Prime Minister is slated to visit the revered Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri and hold a roadshow in the holy city. Elaborate security arrangements have been made in Puri for the roadshow of PM Modi.

Later on the day, PM Modi will address two rallies in Cuttack and Angul to seek votes in favour of the BJP candidates.

This will be PM Modi’s third visit to the state in a span of two weeks during the ongoing Lok Sabha and state assembly polls.

In his previous two visits, PM Modi said BJD’s expiry date was set on June 4 and an Odisha-born Chief Minister from BJP will take oath in the state on June 10. He also challenged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to name the districts of Odisha without reading any paper.

The assembly and Lok Sabha polls in Odisha are being held across four phases--from May 13 to June 1.

Polling for the first phase was conducted in 28 Assembly seats and four Lok Sabha constituencies on May 13. In the fifth phase, 35 Assembly seats and five Lok Sabha constituencies will vote on May 20, 42 Assembly segments and six Lok Sabha seats on May 25, and the remaining 42 Assembly seats and six Lok Sabha constituencies in the last phase on June 1.

The counting of votes will be held on June 4.
