The deceased has been identified as Surendra Gouda, a resident of Sahaspur under Aska block of Ganjam district.
According to sources, Gouda fell unconscious in the field while he was grazing his cattle during this noon.
The locals, who were present there, alerted his family members about the incident.
The family members rushed to the spot and took the elderly man to Aska government hospital, where the doctors declared him "dead".

✨After getting information, police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.
The actual cause of the death will be ascertained after the arrival of the post-mortem report, police said, adding that he is suspected to have died of a heat stroke.
Meanwhile, mercury crossed 40 degree Celsius in many places in the State.
IMD forecast said day temperature would witness a further rise by 2 degree Celsius at many places in the next two days.
