Ganjam, Apr 9: An unexpected tragedy has shaken the village of Purnachandrapur under BN Pur Panchayat in Ganjam district, where an elderly couple was found dead inside their home.

The deceased, identified as Ladukishore Maharana and Sajani Maharana, were discovered in circumstances that have left the local community in shock.

Preliminary reports suggest that the couple may have consumed poison, leading to suspicions of suicide. However, with no concrete evidence confirming this theory, authorities have initiated a thorough investigation to determine the real cause of death.

Local police reached the scene soon after the discovery and began collecting statements from neighbours and potential witnesses.

It was noted that the couple had been living alone for years, as their only son had relocated to Maharashtra with his wife and children.
