Sambalpur, Dec 23: In another incident of man-animal conflict, an elderly woman was trampled to death by a tusker (male elephant) in the Sambalpur district late on Sunday night.
According to the information, a herd of elephants entered the Dhamakota village of Lipinda gram panchayat under the Dhama forest range in the Jujumara block area last night.
They pushed a mud wall in order to eat paddy. The mud wall fell on Salani Minz, who was sleeping then in the house. Salani reportedly died on the spot.

✨On being informed, Jujumara police and Dhama forest personnel reached the village and started an investigation. The police sent the body for postmortem after registering an unnatural death case.
Meanwhile, Dhama forest officials said required steps will be taken to provide compensation to the family of the deceased after the receipt of the postmortem report.
