Odisha Plantation Drive / Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 3.0: Odisha Plants 47 Lakh Saplings in One Day

Bhubaneswar, Sep 26: Odisha marked a remarkable environmental milestone on September 25, planting over 47 lakh saplings in a single day under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 3.0’ campaign, officials said on Saturday .

The drive, part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan–2026, witnessed participation from all districts and Gram Panchayats, reflecting the State’s collective resolve to build a greener and healthier future.

The mobilisation surpassed last year’s figure of 37 lakh saplings, with plantations carried out at more than 14,000 sites across Odisha, underscoring the scale of grassroots involvement.

Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water, Rabi Narayan Naik, lauded the widespread participation, noting that the involvement of every district and Gram Panchayat demonstrated Odisha’s united commitment to environmental protection.

Naik emphasised that planting is only the beginning, with nurturing and survival of saplings being an equally important responsibility. “The spirit of this campaign must be sustained to make villages across Odisha greener, healthier and more sustainable,” he said.

Commissioner‑cum‑Secretary, Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water, Girish S.N., congratulated all those involved, highlighting that the achievement showcased Odisha’s latent potential when harnessed through coordinated team effort. He praised the dedication of teams across the State who delivered the feat despite inclement weather, and urged that the same momentum be maintained in the days ahead.

The plantation drive has reinforced the strength of Odisha’s grassroots institutions and communities. With over 47 lakh saplings planted in a single day, ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 3.0’ has brought environmental action to the doorstep of villages, embedding a shared responsibility to nurture the saplings and protect the green future they represent.
