Berhampur, Jan 16: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided the house of Biju Janta Dal (BJD) leader Hrushikesh Padhi in Ganjam's Berhampur on Friday.
The raid was conducted at Padhi's residence near Sheragada Bypass. A five-member team of the ED launched the search as part of a broader investigation, including a sand mafia and gangsters.
The ED conducted raids at around 20 places across Odisha, including Berhampur, Ganjam, Asika, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Khorda. Hrushikesh Padhi is the Ganjam district BJD vice president, and his sons -- Sachin Padhi, Santosh Padhi, and Debashish Padhi -- are contractors.
The ED also conducted searches at the residence of Siba Prasad Panda, owner of a transport firm named 'Shri Tour and Travels', located at Berhampur's Ambika Nagar locality. Panda's Shri Tours and Travels office is located near the Berhampur railway station.
