Driver’s Final Act of Duty Saves 25 Lives on Moving Bus

Koraput, Nov 20: A bus driver turned hero for his passengers before breathing his last while on duty. The bus driver suffered a fatal heart attack while on duty but managed to save the lives of 25 passengers through his quick thinking.

 

The bus, operated by the Andhra Pradesh State Transport Department, was traveling from Vizianagaram to Malkangiri when driver P Sai Krishna began experiencing severe chest pain near Kunduli in Koraput district.

 

Realizing his condition was worsening, Krishna immediately asked his co-driver to take control of the vehicle, ensuring the safety of the passengers onboard.

Shortly after, his health deteriorated further, and he was rushed to Koraput Medical College. Despite medical efforts, doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

Passengers recounted the tense moments, saying Krishna’s timely decision prevented what could have been a major accident.

 

With 25 passengers onboard, the bus could have gone out of control had he not handed over the wheel to his colleague. Instead, all passengers reached Malkangiri safely.

 

Local authorities and transport officials have praised Krishna’s presence of mind and dedication to passengers’ safety.

 

The incident has highlighted the immense responsibility carried by bus drivers or even pilots and loco pilots, and the importance of having co-drivers (co-pilots) on long routes.

 

While the passengers mourned the loss of P Sai Krishna, they expressed gratitude for his final act of courage that ensured their safety.
