Bhubaneswar, Nov 25: A major road accident was reported in Subarnapur district on Tuesday morning after a private passenger bus skidded off a bridge near Singhijuba village and overturned. The bus, identified as ‘Jay Bhole’, was travelling from Bhubaneswar to Diptipur in Bargarh district via Binika when the mishap occurred.
According to a source, the incident took place around 5:30 am amid dense fog, which drastically reduced visibility on the bridge. Over 40 passengers were onboard when the bus fell off the structure and turned turtle below.
Around 15 passengers sustained minor injuries, while three of them suffered critical injuries, including multiple fractures. Fortunately, no deaths have been reported so far.
Immediately after the accident, police personnel, Fire Services teams and ambulances rushed to the spot. All the injured were pulled out of the overturned vehicle and shifted to the Binika Community Health Centre by police and rescue vehicles.

Authorities said the bus driver fled the scene soon after the accident.
Subarnapur Collector Nrupraj Sahu and SP Narayan Nayak visited the health centre and took stock of the situation. “We are monitoring all patients. If required, they will be referred to higher medical facilities to ensure the best possible treatment,” officials said.
