Dolphin Count Begins In Bhitarkanika, Gahirmatha

Kendrapara, Jan 27: Dolphin count will begin in various water sources like rivers and canals in the Bhatarkanika sanctuary, Gahirmatha to Devi Mouth, and Babubali to Chhinchiri today.

The dolphin count will continue for two days. A training programme was held at Gupti Forest Beat House under the Rajnagar Forest Division to train enumerators.

The enumeration team of nine divisions was trained by Zoologist Dr. Shivaprasad Parida on the technique of dolphin enumeration and the use of necessary equipment in the process of identifying dolphins of various species.
