Bhadrak, Apr 15: In a heartbreaking incident in Bhadrak district's Tihidi block, Odisha, a festive procession turned tragic after two persons were killed while 10 others sustained critical injuries when a DJ-equipped vehicle came into contact with an 11 kV high-voltage power line.

The deceased have been identified as Sarat Mahalik and Manas Mallik of Arasa village under Tihidi police limits.

According to reports, the accident occurred during the Patua Shobhayatra near Hatuaari Chhak.

Reportedly, all injured persons were initially admitted to Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital. Among them, three people, who are said to be in critical condition, have been  shifted to SCB Medical College in Cuttack for further treatment.

Local authorities, including the District Collector, SP, and BJP State President, visited the hospital to oversee the treatment of the injured and express condolences.

The SP confirmed that the DJ vehicle involved in the accident had not obtained prior permission, and it has been seized.

Meanwhile, tension prevailed due to allegations of negligence in treatment, but the situation was brought under control.
