Balasore, Aug 31: Balasore witnessed a major crackdown on noise violations during Ganesh Puja immersion celebrations last Friday. The district administration and police took action against multiple clubs and DJ operators for flouting sound regulations and disturbing public peace.

Despite clear directives from authorities to maintain sound levels below 60 decibels, several DJ vehicles operated at dangerously high volumes, even in designated silent zones near hospitals. The excessive noise reportedly caused distress to many residents, with some experiencing temporary loss of consciousness due to the sonic intensity.

In response, Balasore Town Police registered two cases against local clubs under Case No. 225/25, citing violations under Sections 126(2), 221, 223, and 3(5). A total of 20 DJ vehicles were seized, and further investigations are underway to identify additional violators.

Officials emphasized that the crackdown was necessary to uphold public safety and enforce the law. The administration had previously warned all Ganesh Puja committees to adhere strictly to sound norms, but widespread non-compliance prompted immediate enforcement.
